Distributed Monitoring, Search and Analytics
Distributed Monitoring, Search and Analytics
SOLAS will develop monitoring protocols, network search systems and distributed analytics techniques that allow data centre operators control, in real-time, performance trade-offs along different dimensions, including traffic overhead, processing overhead, memory requirements and estimation accuracy.
Flexible, Scalable Resource Allocation
Flexible, Scalable Resource Allocation
SOLAS will develop a suite of resource allocation techniques for data centre environments that are inherently scalable, that adopt a principled approach to satisfying management objectives, and that jointly optimize the usage of compute, network and storage resources.
Enhanced SDN Framework
Enhanced SDN Framework
SOLAS will develop Software Defined Networking solutions targeting data centre environments that facilitate application-controlled injection of data plane functionality, that are engineering for scalability, and that facilitate coordinated management across data centres.
Data Management Techniques Exploiting SDN
Data Management Techniques Exploiting SDN
SOLAS will develop novel data management techniques that leverage SDN to monitor the network substrate and respond to non-uniformity in communications to optimise the processing of common data management operators such as joins or aggregations.

The SOLAS Project

SOLAS is a Marie Curie Industry Academic Pathways and Partnerships project running from October 2013 to September 2017. Working in close cooperation, the consortium partners will make significant contributions to the state-of-the-art in the increasingly important area of resource management for cloud computing. In performing and evaluating this research programme, they will train a cohort of academic and industrial researchers that can continue to make significant contributions beyond the project lifetime.
